Role/Responsibilities
We are looking for a highly capable Middle Office Operations Manager to lead our middle office function and help us continue to scale our operations while maintaining strong operational excellence and control.
The Middle Office Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day middle office activities across a global team located in Sydney, London and Miami ensuring accurate and timely settlement and reconciliation of transactions.
This role will suit an experienced middle-office professional from an asset management, hedge fund, or securities services background who is comfortable being both "hands-on" in the detail and "hands-up" in leading people, owning processes, and driving continuous improvement.
You will report to the Chief Operating Officer and work closely with the portfolio management and risk and compliance teams.

Your key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
People & leadership
* Lead, mentor, and develop the middle office team, setting clear expectations and fostering a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement.
* Allocate resources and manage workloads to ensure critical processes and deadlines are consistently met.
* Act as the primary point of escalation for operational, process, and data issues.
Trade support & lifecycle management
* Oversee trade capture and validation processes across all products and portfolios (e.g. fixed income, cash, derivatives, FX, and other relevant instruments).
* Ensure timely and accurate trade confirmations and settlement instructions, coordinating with brokers, custodians, and administrators to resolve breaks.
* Monitor and manage corporate actions, income events, and other lifecycle events in conjunction with external administrators.
Reconciliations, valuations & P&L
* Own the daily and periodic reconciliations between internal systems, counterparties, custodians, and fund administrators (positions, cash, P&L, NAV).
* Investigate and resolve breaks and discrepancies promptly, with appropriate documentation and root cause analysis.
Data, systems & reporting
* Oversee the integrity of position, pricing, and reference data in portfolio management and risk systems.
* Partner with data science team to enhance middle office workflows, automation, and data quality controls.
* Support production of regulatory, client, and internal reporting, ensuring data is accurate and delivered on time.
* Maintain and refine dashboards/MI for operational KPIs, incident tracking, and service provider performance.
Risk, controls & governance
* Maintain a robust control framework across all middle office activities, including documented procedures, controls, and oversight routines.
* Identify operational risks, propose and implement mitigants, and ensure issues are logged, tracked, and remediated.
* Contribute to compliance with relevant regulatory and governance requirements, including supporting audits, regulatory reviews, and due diligence requests.
* Own and periodically review business continuity processes for middle office functions.
Change & continuous improvement
* Lead and/or support projects to enhance operational efficiency, reduce manual processes, and strengthen controls.
* Participate in product launches, new mandate onboarding, and system implementations from a middle office perspective.
* Proactively challenge "as-is" processes and champion best practice across the operating model.
About you
You are an organised, detail-oriented leader with a strong understanding of investment operations in a buy-side environment, who enjoys working in a high-performance culture.
You will likely have:
* 7+ years' experience in middle office / investment operations within asset management, hedge funds, superannuation, or securities services.
* At least 2–3 years in a leadership or team-lead role with responsibility for people management and process ownership.
* Strong product knowledge across fixed income and money market instruments, derivatives, and FX; familiarity with other asset classes is a plus.
* Solid understanding of Bloomberg or other portfolio / order management systems, and fund administration processes.
* Demonstrated experience managing reconciliations, trade lifecycle, corporate actions, and valuation processes.
* Proven track record of improving processes and controls, and contributing to or leading operational change initiatives.
* High level of comfort working with data (e.g. Excel, SQL, BI tools) and collaborating with Technology teams on system and workflow enhancements.
* Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and calmly with portfolio managers, senior management, and external providers.
