Legal Assistant (Family Law) – Full Time | Hybrid | Hobart based with Melbourne Support
We are a well-established family law practice seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to support a Hobart-based practitioner, while also providing remote support to a Melbourne based practitioner. This is a varied and rewarding role suited to someone who is highly organised, proactive and confident working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
About the role
This is a full-time, Hobart-based position with the flexibility to work from home approximately up to 3 days per week and approximately 2 days in office.
The role involves a broad range of administrative and legal support duties, including:
· Dictation typing
· Diary and email management
· Scheduling appointments
· Drafting, typing and amending correspondence and court documents
· Electronic court filing
· File management and document preparation
· Collating, indexing and updating briefs
· Preparing costs disclosure documents and updated cost notifications
· Liaising with clients, including following up cost agreements and payment of accounts
· General client liaison and handling enquiries
· Assisting with the day-to-day management of the office, including answering phones and administrative support and hand deliveries
· Making travel arrangements
About you
· A minimum of 3 years' experience as a family law legal assistant
· Strong organisational skills with high attention to detail
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· A professional, friendly and team-focused approach
· The ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively
· Strong client service skills, including confidence discussing ancillary matters such as costs
· Proven time management skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks
· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Word
· Experience using LEAP or a similar legal practice management system
· A proactive mindset with the ability to identify and implement process improvements
· Australian work authorisation is required for this position
