We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Second-in-Charge (2IC) to support the day‑to‑day operations of our poultry farm in the Bendigo area. This role is for someone with strong leadership skills, excellent attention to detail, and a passion for animal welfare and agricultural production

About the Role
The 2IC is an integral part of our leadership team, you will work closely with the Farm Manager to ensure efficient and compliant farm operations, step into full responsibility during periods of leave, and contribute to continuous improvement across the site.
The successful applicant will play a key role in ensuring best practice in OHS, animal welfare, production and farm maintenance. The role is hands on, and must be prepared to work directly with livestock, and flexible hours, including evenings and alternating weekends.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist the Farm Manager in daily farm operations and team supervision.
* Oversee bird health, welfare, nutrition, and environment management.
* Monitor production performance and maintain accurate farm records.
* Coordinate staff rosters, training, and task allocation.
* Operate and maintain farm equipment safely and efficiently.
* Ensure biosecurity, WHS, and compliance procedures are consistently followed.
* Troubleshoot operational issues and contribute to ongoing process improvements.
* Provide leadership and act as the primary decision‑maker in the Farm Manager's absence.
About You
* Previous experience in poultry or livestock farming.
* Strong communication and leadership skills.
* Experience leading a team
* Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
* Comfortable with early starts, weekend rosters, and physically active work.
* High level of reliability, initiative, and problem-solving ability.
* Experienced in the use of farm machinery
* Basic computer skills for record‑keeping and reporting.
* Commitment to animal welfare, safety, and cleanliness.
* Mechanical aptitude
* Drivers licence
