Purpose of the Role
BGIS is seeking an experienced High Voltage Electrical Technician to provide planned and reactive maintenance for electrical systems, including high voltage switchboards and emergency lighting. You'll work alongside Facilities Managers and other technicians to ensure operational excellence, safety, and compliance across a major healthcare facility.
The ideal candidate is technically skilled, adaptable, safety-focused, and enjoys mentoring apprentices while contributing to a supportive team culture.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform high voltage electrical maintenance and emergency repairs.
* Complete work orders efficiently and within deadlines.
* Mentor and develop apprentices to enhance their technical skills.
* Manage subcontractors and support electrical technicians.
* Participate in on-call roster as required.
* Ensure compliance with BGIS systems (QMS, OH&S, EMS) and contractual KPIs.
* Promote safety, report hazards, and participate in safety initiatives.
* Foster positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
* High Voltage (HV) ticket or willingness to train.
* Electrical Fitter Mechanic Licence
* 1–5 years' electrical maintenance experience, including HV (all levels encouraged to apply)
* Certificate III in Electrotechnology.
* White Card and Elevated Work Platform (EWP) certification.
* Strong problem‑solving, communication, and customer service skills.
* Experience mentoring apprentices.
* Ability to manage subcontractors and collaborate with Facilities Managers.
* Knowledge of allied trades (plumbing, refrigeration) an advantage.
