**Risk Management Officer**

Your role is to assist in ensuring State-wide Board of Management achieves its risk management objective of "to provide member councils and the Board of State-wide with risk management direction, advice, and assistance to achieve the common goal of decreased liability exposure of local government authorities".
This role will become a full time employee of Jardine Lloyd Thompson - Risk Services Division JLT Pubic Sector and will report directly to the Manager Environmental Risk Consultants Executive Officer Statewide Mutual who will liaise with the Chairman of the Risk Management Committee of the Board of Management of Statewide Mutual to set overall objectives.
The successful applicant will be employed in the Northern Inland and New England Region of NSW. The base of the position has not yet been determined as it may depend on the location of the applicant.
The initial territory to be incorporated into the job description will be bounded by Coolah, MurrurundiWarrumbungle and Walcha to the south, Moree Plains, Inverell and Tenterfield to the north, Coonabarabran and Narrabri to the west and the New England tablelands. This will cover two nominated Statewide regional risk management groups (Northwest and the New England Local Government Region) comprising approximately 23 general purpose councils plus some special purpose county councils.

**We will count on you to**:
- Promoting risk management principles throughout member councils.
- To assist in the reduction of public and professional liability exposures to local government by the implementation of policies and procedures.
- To develop and present education programs specifically tailored to risk management and local government.
- To assist member councils in day-to-day risk management issues.
- Represent the bBoard of mManagement of Statewide at the regional risk management groups and other meetings.
- To facilitate exposure to risk management principles in Property, Cyber and Corporate risk through external providers.
- To identify opportunities for improved risk management culture through risk consultancy.
**What you need to have**:
- Possess high level of communication and interpersonal skills to enable knowledge transfer of risk management issues, (to conduct training, education sessions etc.) and associated interactions with councilors, senior management, and other staff of Member Councils.
- Requires Possess a broad range of professional knowledge and experience within local government with extensive financial, legal, contract management, risk management, insurance, OH&S, engineering, or other related experiences with proven result driven outcomes being achieved.
- Have at least 5 years practical risk management experience within local government.
- Sound knowledge and demonstrated experience with computer-based risk profiling and other associated systems.
- Possess high level conceptual, analytical and research skills to enable development of strategic risk management plans and programs, and in assisting to implement integrated risk management solutions within Member Councils.
- Demonstrated commitment, enthusiasm, self-motivation, and drive to continuous improvement of risk management philosophies in an ever changing and demanding work environment.
- Formal qualification (or be prepared to gain such) in risk management, OH&S, legal, financial, engineering or other related discipline.
