About the role
Head of Business Development, Coles, Hawthorn East, Melbourne VIC. Full time. This role leads the Coles Business Development Strategy, including the creation of new businesses within Coles through partner selection, organic growth or acquisition, and provides advice and insights to the Leadership Team on relevant business opportunities.
A strategic self-starter and diligent people leader, you proactively identify opportunities and develop and maintain a pipeline of acquisitions with follow through to deal closure. You will keep a close eye on market trends, be future focused and curious, enabling your team to succeed by staying proactive and strategic in your ways of working.
You will also;
* Create and deliver strategic business development plans including new ventures and businesses
* Maintain extensive knowledge of current market conditions, influencing potential direction for Coles Group
* Develop commercial propositions for Coles products and services that clearly articulate the value proposition and commercial terms underpinning those opportunities
* Act as liaison to other areas of the Coles business including Investor Relations and Strategy
* Provide strategic advice, insights and processes to the CFPO function and Coles Group Leadership Team on business opportunities
About you and your skills
Our successful candidate will come from a mergers and acquisitions background, preferably with experience in the consumer or food sectors. You will have demonstrated experience in identifying businesses to purchase, business sizing, evaluations, negotiations, post‑agreement integrations, and deal closures.
* Extensive knowledge of retail trading businesses and products across the customer lifecycle
* Proven capacity for strategic thought leadership and the aptitude for seeking creative solutions for the Financial Services businesses
* Possess exceptional relationship and communication skills, interacting effectively with senior executives
* Proven skills in financial modelling, interpretation of legal agreements and commercial terms, strategy development, and retail business understanding
