Primary objective
The Supervisor Technical Services is responsible for ensuring that the grounds, assets and infrastructure of the Territory
Wildlife Park are maintained to the highest standard possible, and that all staff and public access areas are kept clean and
hygienic.
Context statement
The Territory Wildlife Park is managed as a Wildlife Park and a National Park. This position oversees all asset and
infrastructure repairs and maintenance (including Minor New Works, Cyclical Maintenance and Urgent Minor Repairs
programs). It is also responsible for general land management (weeds, fire and feral animals) including cleaning. Some work
may be done in-house and other work is contracted out.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Lead and manage staff and supervise the daily operations of the Technical Services and Park Cleaners Sections.
2. Maintain and contribute to planning, upgrades and replacements of the Park's infrastructure.
3. Assist with preparation of design briefs for contractors and consultants, project manage construction projects and
supervise contractors undertaking Minor New Works, Urgent Minor Repairs, cyclical maintenance, safety audits and
weed and fire management planning.
1. Actively participate in supervisory and other management forums.
2. Manage and maintain the Park's 400 ha of natural bushland according to land management best practice, including fire
and weed management and feral animal control.
6. Operate within a strong safety culture and contribute to defined Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) policies and
procedures and assist with emergency responses as required.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Proven leadership skills and a supervisory style that is approachable and visible with a demonstrated ability to coach,
mentor and train staff with a commitment to learning and continuous growth.
2. Demonstrated experience in asset and infrastructure maintenance, skills in service delivery, project management and
keeping management aware of project progress.
3. Demonstrated ability to work to a high standard or Workplace Health and Safety and able to apply best practice land
management including fire and weed management, feral animal control.
4. Highly developed time management, be diplomatic and organised and communicate with a collaborative approach to
achieve results while remaining calm under pressure.
5. Working knowledge of contract and legal procurement requirements and able to produce spreadsheets and reports.
6. Possession or ability to obtain an NT MR Driver's Licence, Level II Firefighting, Chem cert and chainsaw ticket.
7. Ability to work with people of diverse cultures.
