Optus Satellite is currently expanding our fleet of geostationary communications satellites with the procurement of multiple spacecraft. This opens the opportunity for new technical roles in the team. Our amazing team performs the enhancement, expansion and upgrade of Optus infrastructure to operate our new and existing Spacecraft.
A day in the life at the Earth Station
Based in Belrose - Sydney, you’ll implement Ground Segment systems architecture, planning, and design across multiple TTC (Telemetry, Tracking Command) technologies including RF (Radio Frequency) and Antenna systems, Baseband and Timing systems, and associated infrastructure to support Spacecraft Telemetry, Command and Ranging capabilities
* Drive analysis and recommendations on TTC systems evolution, enhancement, modification, expansion, and replacement, to ensure system compatibility with existing and future satellite programs.
* Strive to optimise the cost effectiveness of the existing systems within budgetary requirements.
* Support the Provision of TTC services for third-party on-orbit spacecraft and external satellite operators.
* Responsible for ongoing fault analysis, maintenance, repair and sparing of systems equipment and Ground Segment infrastructure used for on-orbit operations of all spacecraft under Optus control.
* You are the TTC Systems SME support for the Optus and NBN Co. Ground Segment, and for other customers as required.
* You’ll provide technical and operational support and co-ordination of Satellite Control team resources to support planning and execution of LEOP (Launch and Early Orbit Phase) and TOS/BIU (Transfer Orbit Support/Bring-Into-Use) services, including configuration, integration, test and operation of Ground support equipment and systems

* Comprehensive understanding of Space Segment (Spacecraft) concepts,and Satellite Earth Station TTC systems.
* Satellite Communication Technologies; Antenna Systems, RF, Baseband, SCADA, Real-Time Computer systems.
* Experienced Systems SME support for Ground Segment TTC systems.
* Confidence in taking ownership and accountability for highly complex technical platforms within Satellite Control operations and TTC environments.
* Ability to provide quick resolutions to significant and complex ground systems issues in which TTC capability or operational functionality is compromised.
