Our client is an established mining company with a strong operational presence in Australia and internationally. We are currently hiring multiple roles across their finance department, including the position of General Manager – Finance and Financial Controller.
Role Description
Job Title: General Manager – Finance
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Direct Reports: 5
Work Flexibility: Flexible working hours
Salary: $250,000 – $270,000 + Super + Up to 25% Annual Bonus
Location: Adelaide, SA
The General Manager – Finance is a senior executive role responsible for shaping and executing the company’s financial strategy. This role requires exceptional leadership in complex, cross-jurisdictional environments and a deep understanding of Australian and international regulatory frameworks. You will oversee financial reporting, tax, treasury, and cash flow management while driving strategic outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Strategy & Management
* Lead the organisation’s budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes.
* Provide strategic financial analysis to support business decisions, investment planning, and performance management.
* Align financial operations with corporate objectives and operational requirements.
1. Financial Reporting & Governance
* Oversee the preparation and delivery of timely, accurate financial statements in accordance with IFRS, AASB, and internal policies.
* Support external audit processes and maintain strong internal controls.
* Prepare high-quality financial reports for executive leadership, the board, and shareholders.
1. Taxation & Compliance
* Manage tax compliance across various jurisdictions including corporate tax, GST, payroll tax, and royalties.
* Work closely with external advisors to ensure regulatory compliance and effective tax planning.
1. Treasury & Capital Oversight
* Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and working capital across the group.
* Manage banking relationships, treasury reporting, and funding arrangements.
* Identify and mitigate financial risks across the organisation.
1. Cross-Border & Chinese Reporting
* Support reporting to the group’s overseas parent entity, with attention to Chinese Accounting Standards (CAS).
* Ensure accuracy and timeliness of cross-border financial reporting and compliance.
1. Financial Systems & Improvement
* Oversee financial systems and data integrity across business units.
* Drive process automation, ERP system optimisation, and digital transformation in financial reporting.
* Develop dashboards and financial tools to support decision-making.
1. Leadership & Team Development
* Build and lead a high-performing finance team with a strong culture of accountability and excellence.
* Define team objectives, monitor performance, and develop talent through structured development plans.
* Foster cross-functional collaboration and effective business partnerships with operational leaders.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
* CPA or CA certification.
* Strong knowledge of Australian financial reporting and compliance standards.
* Experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and audit readiness.
* Exposure to Chinese financial reporting standards (CAS) and experience working with international stakeholders.
Desirable:
* Familiarity with ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle, or Pronto.
* Proficiency in Mandarin (spoken and written).
* Exposure to sustainability reporting or ESG-linked finance.
Secondary Role Description
Job Title: Financial Controller
Reports to: General Manager of Finance
Direct Reports: 2
Work Flexibility: Flexible working hours
Salary: $170,000 – $200,000 + Super + Up to 10% Annual Bonus
Location: Adelaide, SA
The Financial Controller is a senior finance leadership role responsible for group-level financial reporting, consolidation, and audit coordination across international operations. This role demands strong technical expertise in AASB, IFRS, and Chinese Accounting Standards (CAS), as well as a deep commitment to financial governance and compliance. You will oversee statutory reporting, ERP system integrity, and cross-border submissions while leading a high-performing team to ensure financial accuracy and operational transparency.
