About the Role

Glen Eira FC is seeking an experienced Interim General Manager to provide high-level operational leadership while assessing and advising on the ideal ongoing operational needs and structure of our football (soccer) club. This unique opportunity combines immediate operational impact with strategic planning for the future.

You will lead the Operations Manager and Technical Directors and oversee the broader Operations Team. You will have ultimate responsibility for all aspects of club operations, including governance, financial management, stakeholder engagement, sponsorship, and marketing, while supporting the GEFC Committee's strategic direction and building a culture of inclusion and access to football for all.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership: Lead the club's strategic direction and structure in alignment with Committee guidelines and strategic plans

Future Planning: Review and provide strategic recommendations for future operational structure within 5 months

Operational Leadership: Lead the Operations Manager and Operations Team and Technical Directors

Operational Excellence: Provide high-level leadership to staff and volunteers, ensuring effective recruitment, retention, and skill development

Financial Management: Manage budgeting, financial oversight, and revenue generation while developing effective operational budgets

Stakeholder Relations: Act as primary liaison with government, governing bodies, sponsors, and external partners

Sponsorship & Growth: Oversee sponsorship and grant programs, ensuring growth in funding opportunities

Marketing & Communications: Develop and manage marketing, branding, and communication strategies

Compliance & Risk: Ensure adherence to governance, OH&S, and child safety requirements while establishing risk management systems

Representation: Represent the club at public events, external meetings, and football industry forums

Team Support: Support football development initiatives and team development

What We're Looking For

Minimum 3 years senior leadership experience in sporting, not-for-profit, or business environments

Strong knowledge of community sport administration and governance

Proven ability to manage financial operations, sponsorships, and strategic partnerships

Strategic thinking with ability to research and advise on best practice for operational effectiveness

Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills

Ability to build respectful relationships with players and parents from diverse backgrounds and ability to work with those who identify as neurodivergent and people with diverse abilities

Strong communication, marketing, and media capabilities

Ability to develop and implement strategic plans and policies

Post-secondary education in sport management, business administration, or related field
