About Dayworkbook
Daywork is a billing method for construction work. Instead of a fixed price agreed upfront, work is charged based on actual time spent plus actual materials used. You might also know this as 'time and materials', 'do-and-charge', or 'cost-plus'. Works are traditionally recorded on paper and this paperwork is used to substantiate an invoice. But there are big, messy, expensive problems with this process for both contractors and clients, and we are the solution.
Dayworkbook is an Australian construction technology startup on a mission to liberate construction professionals from daywork chaos. We've built the only platform that turns the entire daywork process digital — Create. Sign. Compile — so contractors can focus on doing great work.
We serve 42+ trade categories across Australia, New Zealand, the UK, the US, and Canada. We're bootstrapped, fast-growing, and proud of our excellent product market fit. Our brand voice is direct, authentic, and a bit cheeky — think dependable workmate, not faceless tech company.
This is a rare opportunity to join a small startup early and own the marketing function from day one, with real creative input and direct access to the founders.
The Role
We're looking for a hungry, creative marketing gun to be our boots-on-the-ground marketing resource. You'll be responsible for running our social media channels, helping plan and create video and photo content, managing website updates, and supporting our advertising efforts.
This isn't a role where you'll be handed a strategy and told to execute. You'll help shape it. You'll work closely with our leaders, get exposure to every corner of a growing SaaS business, and build a portfolio of real-world marketing work in an industry that's ripe for disruption.
The role is primarily flexible — we agree your hours around education or other commitments — but some in-person time in Perth is part of the gig. Content shoots, team catch-ups, and the occasional brainstorming work better face to face. We're not asking you to commute every day, but you do need to be Perth-based.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media
* Manage and grow Dayworkbook's presence across LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook.
* Plan and maintain a weekly content calendar aligned to our marketing goals.
* Write captions, create graphics, and schedule posts using our brand voice (direct, practical, a bit cheeky).
* Monitor comments, messages, and engagement — respond where appropriate.
* Track performance metrics and report on what's working.
Content Creation & Videography
* Help plan, script, and film video content (Reels, YouTube Shorts, customer case studies, advertising).
* Coordinate with the Founders for on-camera content and testimonials.
* Assist with editing or liaising with video editors to produce polished content.
* Source photos and create graphics for campaigns, articles, and ads.
Website Management
* Help roll-out our new refreshed Dayworkbook website.
* Make updates to our website (copy changes, new article uploads, landing page tweaks).
* Assist with publishing blog articles and case studies.
* Help maintain SEO basics and ensure pages are accurate and up to date.
Advertising Support
* Assist with managing our Meta (Facebook/Instagram) advertising campaigns.
* Help brief ad creatives — copy, visuals, audience targeting input.
* Pull performance reports and flag optimisation opportunities.
Ad Hoc Marketing & Design
* Graphic design tasks — social tiles, pitch deck slides, email banners, promotional assets.
* Research competitor activity, industry trends, and content opportunities.
* General marketing support across campaigns, events, and partnerships as needed.
What We're Looking For
Must-Haves
* Based in Perth, WA — in-person attendance for content shoots and team catch-ups is required.
* Currently studying or recently completed a degree or diploma in Marketing, Communications, Media, Graphic Design, or similar.
* Strong social media instincts — you actually understand what makes content perform.
* Basic graphic design skills (Canva at minimum; Adobe suite a bonus).
* Excellent written communication — you can adapt tone and write clearly.
* Self-starter attitude — you don't wait to be told what to do next.
* Comfortable on camera and/or behind a camera for content shoots.
Nice-to-Haves
* Experience with and a passion for photography and videography.
* Experience with video editing (CapCut, Premiere Pro, or similar).
* Familiarity with Meta Ads Manager or any paid social advertising.
* Basic website CMS experience (WordPress, Webflow, or similar).
* Interest in construction, trades, or B2B SaaS — bonus points if you've swung a hammer.
* Experience with tools like Canva, HubSpot, Asana, or similar.
What You'll Get
* Competitive hourly rate — we look after our people.
* Flexible scheduling — work around your uni timetable or other commitments.
* Direct access to founders — you'll actually learn how a startup works from the inside.
* Real portfolio work — not make-work tasks; real campaigns, real brand, real results.
* Room to grow — as Dayworkbook grows, so does this role.
* A team that takes the work seriously but doesn't take itself too seriously.
Our Culture & Brand
* Our brand values are Simple, Reliable, and Transparent — and we try to live those internally too.
* We're a small, tight-knit team (think startup energy, not corporate process). We work hard, communicate openly, and genuinely enjoy what we're building.
* We care deeply about the construction industry and the tradespeople we serve. If you're the kind of person who'd rather make something real than sit in meetings — this is your kind of place.
How to Apply
Send us the following to admin@dayworkbook.com:
* A short cover note (no templates — tell us why you want this role and why you'd be great at it).
* Your resume or LinkedIn profile.
* Examples of social media content, graphic design work, or video you've created — even personal projects count.
* 2-minute video of why you are a good fit for the role including what you think makes a good piece of construction industry social content.
We'll be in touch within a week. No recruiters or agencies, please.
