Trade Mark Attorney Opportunity
We are seeking a talented and ambitious graduate to join our Trade Mark team as a trainee Trade Mark Attorney in our Brighton office.
The role will provide a diverse and interesting caseload working with various clients from different commercial sectors and international attorneys.

Our Brighton office is a modern, purpose-built office block located centrally near Brighton train station, allowing for easy access to public transportation.
The role involves reporting to an assigned supervising partner and working at our principal place of business in Brighton. Travel to other Firm offices in the UK and Europe may be required on occasion.
We operate a hybrid working policy, permitting full-time trainees to work from home initially one day a week and then two days per week after gaining 2 years' experience, subject to approval by their supervising partner.
Hours of work will be 35 hours per week under our flexitime scheme.
The primary purpose of this role is to work alongside Partners and Associates in supporting clients to protect, manage, and defend their trade marks while simultaneously working towards qualification as a Chartered Trade Mark Attorney.
Main Responsibilities
* Liaise with in-house attorneys, overseas attorneys, IP managers, brand managers, business owners, and individuals.
* Advise clients on trade mark registration, use, and exploitation to ensure successful protection of their brands' identity and integrity.
* Work with clients to identify new trade marks and ensure proposed marks are capable of and available for registration in desired territories.
* Develop and advise on international trade mark filing strategies.
* Prepare and file trade mark applications in the UK, EU, and via WIPO, and coordinate trade mark filings with colleagues in Germany and Norway.
* Respond to official objections to clients' trade mark applications and collaborate with overseas attorneys on objections elsewhere.
* Conduct searches to determine whether proposed trade marks are available for use and registration, and advise clients accordingly.
* Arrange trade mark, domain name, company name, applicant, and watching services, reviewing and reporting results.
Key Skills and Qualifications
* A strong academic background, preferably a 2:1 degree or above.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Coachability, resilience, and an ability to work under pressure.
* Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and good interpersonal skills.
* Fundamental commercial awareness and potential to support clients' goals.
