Primary objective
To be part of the Plastic Surgery team providing a timely and high quality service to the population of over 250,000 and
visitors to the Top End.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Admit, manage and discharge patients from the service under the supervision of the Plastic Surgeon with the aim of
providing the highest possible standards of care.
2. Participate in the twenty-four hour on-call roster as required to ensure the proper functioning of the service.
3. Provide supervision and training to junior medical staff and other clinical staff, including those in other Divisions s
appropriate.
4. Take a lead role in Radiology Review meetings and in planning/scheduling for upcoming surgery.
5. Provide medico-legal and other reports under supervision as appropriate.
6. Participate in research, educational and professional development.
7. Initiate and participate in quality assurance activities, peer review practices and continuing Medical Education.
8. Participate in audit, risk management activities and research.
9. Participate in other activities related to the Plastic Surgery service within the Royal Darwin Hospital as directed by the
Plastic Surgery Surgeon.
10. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being
undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
2. Have an appropriate training and experience in Plastic Surgery.
3. Demonstrated commitment to high quality patient care.
4. Demonstrated capability and interest in research.
5. Demonstrated commitment to teaching.
6. Demonstrated ability to communicate at all levels.
7. Demonstrated surgical competency.
8. Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration.
Desirable
1. At least 1 year experience in Plastics or Orthopaedics experience with hands.
