We have an exciting opportunity for a permanent full time Assistant Financial Analyst to join the Road Infrastructure Delivery Branch within the Council.
This position provides essential support in budgeting, financial modelling, forecasting, reporting, and analysis. This role helps ensure the effective financial management of capital roadworks and drainage projects, contributing to the branch's operational and strategic delivery goals.
Position responsibilities include:
* Support the 10-Year Capital Roadworks and Drainage Program through financial planning, reporting, and budget model management.
* Assist the Financial Analyst with:
* Budgeting and financial reporting; end-of-month/year processes.
* Grant funding management.
* Developer contributions and constrained income reserves.
* Local Infrastructure program setup and reporting.
* Maintain accurate financial data and ledgers.
* Provide financial training and advice to non-financial staff.
* Use clear, plain language to explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
* Build respectful, collaborative relationships with internal and external parties.
Key indicators for success:
* Tertiary qualification (diploma or similar) in Business, Accountancy, Commence or finance related discipline and experience in a financial related position, or current progression towards a bachelor's degree in accounting would be considered.
* Strong understanding of accounting principles and procedures.
* Ability to apply legislation, accounting standards, and internal controls to ensure financial accuracy.
* Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills in a financial context.
* High computer literacy, especially in spreadsheets and financial systems (e.g., Tec 1 Environment).
* Excellent attention to detail and time management.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to diverse stakeholders.
* Current C Class Driver Licence.
* Ability to pass all pre-employment and background checks as required.
* For Level 5 progression:
* Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline with high competency in the role.
* 12 months of satisfactory service at Level 4.3 or ability to operate under limited direction (or at manager's discretion).
