About The Team & The Position
The Energy Operation Services (EOS) Team is accountable for the management of critical market applications (approx. 400+) covering the National Energy Market (NEM), Gas Retail Markets (FRC), Victorian Gas Wholesale market (DGWM), Gas Supply Hub (GSH) and the Short Term Trading Market (STTM) and meets National Electricity Rule and National Gas Rule requirements.
The Incumbent is responsible for testing market systems to ensure that they have the required functionality, reliability, security and flexibility as part of the market systems delivery projects. The role provides timely, broad, detailed and effective test plans for the projects. The Tester ensures creative solutions of test automation and test process improvements are delivered to allow the maximum of testing to be applied with the minimum of resources
Position Responsibilities
Develop Requirements Traceability Matrix, test objectives, and scenarios covering functionality, business SLAs, network, security, and platform aspects.Execute test plans with strict adherence to testing standards and quality benchmarks.Ensure testing processes adapt quickly to changing requirements through robust planning and efficient, reusable test data sets to establish baselines and support consistent testing.Design and implement automation processes to enhance test efficiency and reduce manual effort.Maintain test environments and provide IT support during User Acceptance Testing and deployment phases.Collaborate with teams during software rollout to ensure smooth transitions and issue resolution.Develop and maintain automated tests on AEMO defined frameworks and tools.
Position Requirements
Skills & Experience:
Solid understanding of IT testing principles and practices across project lifecycles.Good hands-on experience in Functional, System Integration, Regression, and End-to-End testing.Proficient in testing Web-based, Client-Server, and Batch in API testing (SOAP & RESTful) with working knowledge of JSON, XML, and Swagger.Strong SQL and Excel capabilities for data validation and technical verification (Oracle/SQL Server preferred).Familiar with automation tools (eg Playwright, Selenium, QTP, SoapUI) and Atlassian suite (JIRA, Confluence, Bamboo).Experience with test management platforms (Quality Center, ALM, ServiceNow, PractiTest) and ability to write stubs when needed.
Education/ Professional Certifications
Degree or tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Engineering.Recognized professional certifications or equivalent hands-on expertise in essential technologies and platforms.
