Our client, a large top-tier Global Asset Manager, is looking for a Senior Fund Accounting Specialist to manage the Tax Accounting and Distribution process for their Australian business.
This newly created, permanent role will oversee external fund administrators responsible for fund accounting duties for a large number of high-value funds.
In this fund‑manager‑side, focused position, the successful candidate will build on their fund accounting experience and develop their career in a fund manager environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the Fund Accounting oversight and review of external fund administrators’ work.
- Deliver accurate and timely tax reporting.
- Manage auditors throughout the tax audit process.
- Review and maintain fund tax profiles and security static data used to drive reporting and tax calculations.
- Assist in the completion of projects, including testing of tax templates.
- Design and implementation of fund control framework.
- Execution of control checks.
- Review accuracy of unit prices calculated by external administrator.
- Respond to internal and external fund accounting queries.
- Oversight, coordination and review of fund distributions.
- Oversight and management of third‑party vendors (fund accountants, administrators, custodians) related to the funds.
- Coordinate and communicate inquiries to appropriate internal departments.
- Develop reports for funds management, operations committee, boards & management.
- Support account management and business development activities (e.g., reports and advice).
- Support fund launches.
- Manage various projects related to process improvements, procedure and systems development.
Experience / Knowledge
- 5 years of experience in a similar role with a fund manager, administrator or custodian.
- A firm understanding of fund accounting (including accounting systems) and exposure to a broad range of fund structures is a plus.
- Experience in support/reporting for income/yield‑oriented fund types.
- Strong knowledge of the operational components of Net Asset Value calculation and various asset/security types.
- Strong knowledge of tax and trust distributions process.
- Ability to develop robust control frameworks.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
