Overview
Core Environmental Projects is an employee-owned engineering and design consultancy with a strong focus on landfill and contaminated site rehabilitation. We serve clients across Australia, specializing in landfill assessment and rehabilitation, vapor and gas building protection, construction quality assurance, and more. Our team is looking for a Field Technician based in Melbourne, who would enjoy hands-on work across landfill, construction, and environmental projects. This will be a full-time permanent position with hybrid working arrangements.
Key responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and weld landfill gas extraction and piping systems
- Operate and maintain equipment, including excavators and forklifts, ensuring compliance with site safety requirements
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver environmental and engineering solutions
- Troubleshoot site issues and provide practical, hands-on solutions
- Oversee day-to-day landfill site operations and performance monitoring
- Conduct field-based environmental assessments and reporting
The ideal candidate will have
- Experience in landfill, waste, or similar projects
- Background in project engineering or similar applied technical role
- Excavator and forklift licenses (or willingness to get one)
- Welding or pipe installation experience (plumbing knowledge is an advantage but not essential)
- Solid mechanical aptitude - comfortable working with vehicles, machinery, and field equipment
- Driver's license (required)
- A degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline
