Senior Marketing and Communications Specialist Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Senior Marketing and Communications Specialist to deliver our Communications Strategy, develop strong relationships with stakeholders, and create engaging content for our members.
The ideal candidate will have excellent writing and conceptual skills, graphic design and social media fluency, as well as a passion for informing and engaging our members.
The role requires the ability to work effectively with Aboriginal people, demonstrate an understanding of Aboriginal Australian culture, and communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
Key Responsibilities:
* Delivering on IBNs Communications Strategy to ensure consistent, accessible and strategic communication across all of IBNs channels.
* Developing and distributing newsletters and reports, and managing IBNs digital platforms, including social media and website.
* Supporting the creation of multimedia content, including video and podcast material.
* Assisting in the delivery of community events and member communications together with the Operations team.
* Building relationships with partners, stakeholders and members to foster collaboration and support.
* Tracking the performance of campaigns and providing regular updates to the Executive.
* Generating media stories for coverage in Australian media outlets.
* Working with Cultural Leads to develop material in culturally appropriate language.
Requirements:
* Ability to work effectively with Aboriginal people and demonstrate an understanding of Aboriginal Australian culture.
* Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
* Proven time management and organisational skills and experience with managing a diverse workload, working to deadlines and maintaining a high attention to detail.
* Strong digital literacy with experience including with Mailchimp, Canva and the Adobe Suite.
* Hands on experience in developing communications products including social media posts, newsletters and reports.
* Ability to work proactively, positively and effectively in a team environment to achieve outcomes.
* Adaptable and open to learning new skills and methodologies.
* Tertiary qualification in Marketing, Media, Communication or Arts or equivalent.
* Experience with podcast and video tools (desirable).
