Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Grounds Maintenance Specialist to join our team in Melbourne. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment and provide grounds maintenance services in our beautiful village.
As a Grounds Maintenance Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring all communal areas are tidy and well-maintained, including outdoor patios, verandas, outdoor furniture, barbeques, and gardens. You will also be responsible for maintaining and implementing scheduled grounds maintenance and presentation of village gardens.
You will work independently and as part of a team to ensure that all tasks are completed to a high standard. You will also be required to exercise initiative, discretion, and judgment in carrying out assigned duties.
Key Responsibilities
* Cleaning tasks, including cobwebbing, guttering & down pipes, paths.
* Maintaining the SMDS register.
* Operating gardening and cleaning equipment, including pressure cleaner and other mechanical devices.
* E nsuring all communal areas are tidy and well maintained, including outdoor patios, verandas, outdoor furniture, barbeques.
* Maintain and implement scheduled grounds maintenance and presentation of village gardens, including pruning plantings, hedging, weeding, propagating, fertilising, and watering.
* May be required from time to time to conduct very minor maintenance, eg changing lightbulbs, easing locks and windows etc.
* Carry out any additional duties, as directed by the Village Manager, which may include cleaning of air conditioning filters throughout the community hall and offices and resident units. Assistance with the garbage bins within the village and other ad hoc cleaning duties, as required.
Requirements
* An interest in pruning, weeding, hedging, minor paving repairs, tree management, planting, transplanting, and propagating plants.
* Fitness to operate garden machinery, work from a ladder, and do pole extension work for long periods of time.
* The ability to exercise initiative, discretion, and judgment in carrying out assigned duties.
* Able to listen, understand, and adapt communication styles to appropriate audiences and work unsupervised and independently.
* Ability to prioritize work schedules.
* A valid drivers license.
* Enjoy physical, hands-on work, being in the outdoors.
* Experienced and self-driven, working well autonomously, under pressure, and meets deadlines.
* Reliable and personable, ensuring a positive experience to our residents.
* Ability to pass a National Police Check.
