Key Responsibilities
The Freight Manager will be responsible for managing and optimising freight operations. This role involves overseeing the sourcing, contracting and performance management of service providers through well-defined KPI's and structured supplier management programs.
This role will also ensure efficient, effective, compliant and cost competitiveness across all freight operations and ensure that owned assets are maintained / inspected and ready for operations at any given time.
Accountabilities
* Negotiate and manage freight contracts, ensuring compliance with policies, Chain of Responsibility (CoR) regulations, and industry standards.
* Lead freight tender processes, including distribution, evaluation, and selection, to secure competitive and strategic transport solutions.
* Develop and maintain freight strategies in collaboration with internal stakeholders, aligning with short-, medium-, and long-term business goals.
* Oversee asset inspection and maintenance, ensuring service providers are certified and compliant with regulatory and manufacturer standards.
* Monitor and report on freight performance, using analytics to drive cost-efficiency, optimise utilisation, and benchmark against industry standards.
* Foster strong supplier relationships, providing market insights, forecasts, and collaborating on continuous improvement initiatives.
* Manage freight operations administration, including quoting, invoicing, contract management, and accurate data entry into systems.
* Ensure service provider compliance with safety, maintenance, and performance expectations through structured supplier management programs.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field.
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in freight sourcing or logistics.
* Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
* Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
