Offer description

Job no: 517368
Work type: Fixed term - Full-time
Campus: Adelaide
Categories: Faculty of Health & Medical Sciences, Level A, Level B

(Level A/B) $102,024 to $135,932 per annum plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation applies.

Fixed term fulltime position for 12 months

We are looking for a passionate researcher (Level A/B) to join our team focusing on male fertility and spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs)

Our research investigates the genetic regulators and cellular pathways that control spermatogonial stem cell (SSC) function and male fertility. Previous work from our group has identified key roles for transcription factors such as PLZF in sustaining SSC activity and highlighted the importance of growth factor signalling in regulating SSC fate.

This position will focus on uncovering the molecular mechanisms that enable male germline recovery following damage by genotoxic drugs, and the regenerative responses of SSCs. The research will use in vivo models, organoids, SSC culture, and genomic approaches to develop strategies that enhance fertility recovery following chemotherapy-induced germline damage.

Reporting to Associate Prof. Robin Hobbs, this role will apply their expertise in stem cells, epigenetics, development, and cell biology to lead and contribute to cutting-edge research.

To be successful you will need:

- A PhD in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, or a related area.
- Expertise and interest in stem cell biology, epigenetics and associated techniques.
- Outstanding academic track record (including peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations) and demonstrated ability to conduct independent research.
- Experience with cell culture, mouse models, fluorescence microscopy (confocal), genomics, cell biology and biochemistry techniques (e.g., RNA/ChIP-seq, mass spectrometry).
- Successful track record in conducting and driving research, including experimental design, execution and manuscript writing across multiple projects.
