Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Design Manager to lead projects and project teams on complex road infrastructure within our Transport Portfolio. The role involves driving technical delivery, mentoring staff, and ensuring successful execution of major transport infrastructure projects. You will be a key part of the project leadership team, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to high technical standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead and manage the design of complex transport infrastructure projects, especially major road projects.
2. Contribute to the development and implementation of long-term strategic plans aligned with Arup’s objectives.
3. Procure work, negotiate contracts, and ensure positive financial and technical project outcomes.
4. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, government agencies, contractors, and subconsultants.
5. Oversee and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams across different offices to ensure the successful delivery of design packages.
Candidate Profile
* Recognized tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
* Significant experience in the design management of major transport infrastructure projects.
* Chartered membership of Engineers Australia (or equivalent) or significant progress towards membership.
* Expertise in relevant legislation, regulations, and codes of practice, including OH&S.
* Strong communication skills for effective interaction with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
