Trinity College is a multi‐site, independent, co‐educational Anglican College founded in a liberal educational tradition in northern Adelaide. A part‐time position exists in a specialised role working alongside the ordained Chaplain and the pastoral care staff of the College to provide an extra level of support to students of the College. This role is 2 x 7.5‐hour days over 40 weeks (term time); hours are negotiated to suit the successful candidate. The position is available for immediate filling.
Key Accountabilities
The Faith Mentor supports the spiritual and relational life of the school by providing mentoring, encouraging student engagement, and creating and maintaining accessible pathways for exploring Christian faith.
A Faith Mentor must provide support for a range of day‐to‐day matters affecting the school community and communicate effectively with a diverse group of people. They can become involved in a wide variety of work tasks including health, social and values education, and emotional support. The role explicitly offers theological support within the individual's personal capacity and training, which may include chapel service, student leadership, classroom support for religious education, peer group pastoral and spiritual support for the students.
The Faith Mentor is not a Student Counsellor or Youth Worker and does not provide teaching and assessment.
What You Will Need To Succeed
* Practicing Christian with maturity of faith
* Strong relational gifts and ability to connect with young people
* Comfortable in formal and informal ministry and support settings
* Certificate IV in Pastoral Care/Chaplaincy and/or Certificate in Christian Ministry/Theology
* Work experience in the education/school sector is an advantage
* Knowledge of College policies, procedures and work systems
Spiritual Commitment
* A demonstrated commitment to personal prayer and Bible study
* Evidenced active membership in a Christian Church (any denomination)
