My client is a well-capitalised family office based in South Melbourne, managing a sophisticated, growing investment portfolio with a clear focus on direct private-market investments and external fund allocations.
The platform invests directly in private equity, real estate, private credit, and venture capital, complemented by a curated portfolio of high-quality external fund managers in both domestic and international markets.
As the portfolio continues to scale in both size and complexity, a Senior Investment Analyst is needed to work directly alongside a talented Investment Director in a high-impact, front-office role. This position offers exposure to the full investment lifecycle, with a strong emphasis on direct private-market investments, manager selection, and portfolio management.
You will operate in a lean, high-performing environment, with genuine responsibility and visibility across investment decisions. The role provides the opportunity to develop as a well-rounded investor across multiple asset classes, while contributing meaningfully to the evolution of the overall investment strategy.
The Investment Director is an ambitious, commercially astute investor with a strong track record across private markets and a willingness to back conviction-led opportunities. This creates an environment where thoughtful analysis, independent thinking and high-quality execution are both expected and rewarded.
Key responsibilities include:
* Evaluation and execution of direct investments across private credit, real estate, private equity and venture capital
* Detailed financial modelling, structuring analysis and commercial due diligence across a range of transaction types
* Supporting end-to-end transaction execution, including coordination with advisors, legal counsel and counterparties
* Preparation of high-quality investment papers and presentation of recommendations to the Investment Committee
* Identification, selection and ongoing monitoring of external fund managers across global markets
* Portfolio construction support, including asset allocation, risk assessment and capital deployment decisions
* Active monitoring of underlying investments, including performance analysis and strategic input where relevant
* Developing and maintaining relationships with fund managers, sponsors, brokers and other market participants
* Supporting broader strategic initiatives, reporting and operational requirements of the investment function
The ideal candidate will have:
* 4-7 years of experience within private equity, investment banking, private credit, corporate finance or a comparable environment
* Strong exposure to investing, with the ability to assess risk, structure transactions and underwrite opportunities
* Strong financial modelling and analytical capability, with strong attention to detail
* Demonstrated ability to think independently and generate investment insights
* A genuine passion for investing, particularly within private markets
* Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate investment theses
* High level of professionalism, discretion and judgement
* Comfortable operating in a lean, entrepreneurial environment with significant responsibility and accountability
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in Finance, Commerce, Business, Engineering, Property or Law. CA or CFA is advantageous
This role is best suited to someone seeking to transition into a long-term principal investing seat, with fantastic mentors, broad exposure across private markets and global fund allocations, and the opportunity to meaningfully influence capital deployment decisions.
