Team

The Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) Youth Forensic Mental Health team is a specialist, multidisciplinary team within the Department of Health that provides mental health assessment, treatment and case management to young people involved in, or at risk of involvement in, the justice system. The team works collaboratively with families, carers and partner agencies to deliver recovery‐focused, evidence‐based care that supports the wellbeing and safety of young people and the broader Tasmanian community.

Role

* Under the supervision of senior allied health staff and within a supportive multidisciplinary team, provide community‐based mental health support to young people and their families, including triage, assessment, risk management, short‐term care coordination, safety planning, therapy, and discharge planning.
* Work collaboratively with the team and external services (including inpatient and community services) to ensure safe, timely and appropriate care, including quality handovers and continuity of care.
* Maintain professional, compassionate and respectful communication and boundaries with clients, families, carers and colleagues, and actively contribute to team reviews and shared care planning.
* Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation using electronic systems, engage in supervision and professional development and participate in Quality, Safety and Work Health & Safety activities.

Qualifications

* Contemporary knowledge and experience of child and youth mental health service care principles including statutory requirements, assessment, risk assessment, safety planning and the ability to implement this in the practice setting.
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the theoretical and practical application of a range of therapeutic interventions relevant to CYMHS, with the ability to acquire further expertise into the future.
* Possession of a sound level of interpersonal skills with the ability to consult, liaise, negotiate, provide training and work co‐operatively within the framework of a multi-disciplinary team, and the broader service system.

Salary and Benefits

Permanent full‐time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

$73,834 to $111,364 per annum. Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

Salary packaging and additional benefits: living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year, professional development allowance up to $1,000 per annum, travel and relocation assistance up to $15,000 for overseas entrants and $10,000 for interstate entrants, accelerated pathways, and study leave entitlements.

Eligibility

* Satisfactory completion of an appropriate allied health professional course of study at a recognised tertiary institution and registration with the relevant Board or, for unregulated professions, eligibility for membership of the relevant professional association.
* Current Working with Children Registration.

Desirable criteria: Post‐graduate experience in an area relevant to the role or a post‐graduate qualification or working towards a post‐graduate qualification relevant to the role.
