About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Quality Control Inspector – Piping to support shipbuilding activities within a major naval vessel program. This role is responsible for ensuring piping systems are fabricated, installed, and tested in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and applicable Australian and Defence standards.
Responsibilities
* Conduct in‐process and final inspections of piping systems, including fabrication, installation, supports, pressure testing, and cleanliness controls.
* Verify compliance with drawings, specifications, ITPs, and relevant standards (AS, Defence, class requirements).
* Witness and record hydrostatic, pneumatic, flushing, and functional tests.
* Identify, raise, and manage Non‐Conformance Reports (NCRs) and support timely corrective actions.
* Maintain accurate inspection records and contribute to quality documentation and handover packs.
* Liaise with production, engineering, subcontractors, and customer representatives during inspections.
* Promote quality awareness and compliance across piping and mechanical trades.
Qualifications and Experience
* Trade qualification or certification in Piping, Mechanical, Welding, or Pressure Equipment.
* CSWIP 3.1 (Inspector) or equivalent international qualification.
* Minimum 3 years experience as a QC Inspector in shipbuilding, marine, defence, or heavy engineering.
* Strong ability to interpret piping drawings, isometrics, specifications, and standards.
* Experience with pressure testing, inspection reporting, and ISO‐based quality systems.
* High attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast‐paced production environment.
* Applicants must be an Australian citizen and eligible to obtain and uphold a Baseline Security Clearance through the Australian Department of Defence.
