Clinical Nurse Consultant Paediatric Surgery

The purpose of this role is to provide clinical expertise and consultancy through advanced clinical leadership relevant to the speciality of paediatric surgery. The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) provides direct and indirect care as required and works in collaboration with the Nurse Unit, Educator and wider health care team to support the clinical unit in the provision of safe quality healthcare through exemplary clinical nursing standards of practice for the specialty of paediatric surgery.
About The Team
The Division of Surgery & Perioperative Services at CHQ provides a comprehensive state-wide consultant-led tertiary referral service providing ambulatory, emergency, and in-patient care. The multiple specialty teams provide quaternary care for pre-term infants, babies, children, and young people requiring emergency, urgent and planned acute care. The Paediatric Surgical services (including Urology) provide surgical care and input for a variety of complex congenital abnormalities and lifelong diseases. It works closely with a variety of Allied Health teams and Physicians to inform care pathways and collaborate with other surgical disciplines to plan and undertake complex multi-organ surgeries. More broadly, the service is integrated with the Paediatric Burns service and the Trauma and Family Support service. The unit also provides specialist paediatric care for inpatients and outpatients at QCH, Mater NICU, and RBWH NICU, and manages children with bowel/bladder stomas, surgical urology needs, complex wounds, pressure injuries, and surgical gastrostomies, including neonates under the PSUB team.

You'll fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Schedule 2, Nurses and Midwives (Queensland Health) Award - State 2015 - Generic Level Statements (GLS) Nurse Grade 7 and the Queensland Health and Children's Health Queensland Hospital and Health Service (CHQHHS) commitments and values, in achievement of the organisational goals and Domains of Practice.
