Equine Welfare Property Manager

Racing NSW is the statutory body for thoroughbred horse racing in NSW. The program at St Heliers Correctional Centre is a partnership between Racing NSW and Correctional Services NSW which focuses on retraining and rehoming thoroughbred horses after their racing careers at the 100 acre property at Muswellbrook.
As part of the Equine Welfare Team, the Property Manager will be responsible for overseeing the program between NSW Correctional Services and Racing NSW whilst supporting the General Manager of Equine Welfare in delivering Racing NSW's Equine Welfare Program.
The Equine Welfare Property Manager will be responsible for:
* Management and direction of all personnel on the property
* Retraining Thoroughbred horses at the property for suitable new homes
* Implementing and managing procedures and internal controls to ensure the safe, efficient, and effective operation of the program
* Liaising with Racing NSW Equine Welfare vets to ensure the welfare needs are met for the horses
* Ensuring best practice equine welfare standards at all times
* Preparation of reports and proposals for the Manager of Team Thoroughbred
The successful applicant must have the below experience and attributes:
* A 'can do' attitude and determination to get results
* Confidence in handling, riding and retraining Thoroughbreds
* Understand the suitability of prospective horses for rehoming in a range of new careers and homes
* Experience managing staff and working as part of a team
* Experience in managing a rural property
* Excellent communication skills
The successful applicant will also ideally have the following:
* Equestrian/Racing background is preferred
* First Aid Certificate
