**About the Opportunity**
The EHS State Manager is tasked to lead our Victorian EHS improvement program in the implementation of a new EHS Management system to align with ISO45001. This EHS management system improvement program is aligned to our ambition to achieve self-insurance licensing in Victoria.
This role is responsible for facilitating and influencing the active engagement of relevant stakeholder managers in the research, development and implementation planning of safety and other related programs to meet regional business plans and corporate goals. You will also lead a small team of EHS Coordinators.
Key Responsibilities
- locally implement the EHS systems management architecture
- provide proactive EHS coaching from frontline to senior management levels
- driving continuous EHS performance improvement
- develop and coordinate a system of internal and external risk assessment programs
- achieve and maintain compliance to the National Audit Tool.
- manage safety regulatory and awareness policies and education training programs
- assist in the implementation and maintenance of a system of document control
- analyse safety performance, make recommendations, and drive improvement
- manage the local completion of compliance audits, self-audits and action item tracking
**About You**
You are a passionate promoter of safety in the workplace and enjoy coaching and mentoring - specifically around safety behaviours, accountability for safety and integrating EHS performance into lean production environments. Experience managing a small EHS team and those individuals with self-insurance experience are favourable.
Ideally, you will have:
- Diploma level EHS qualification or equivalent, essential
- Working knowledge of ISO45001, or equivalent, safety systems and associated audits is highly favourable.
- Experience operating in a self-insured workers compensation environment is an advantage.
- Manufacturing or similar complex industry experience
- Experience in multi-national business and geographically dispersed workforce
- Preferable - Workplace training and assessment skills
- Solid working knowledge of WHSE technical & legislative requirements
- Experience in implementing change and fostering WHSE-focused culture
- Understanding of systems available to monitor, manage and analyse WHSE performance
- Proven experience implementing contemporary EHS management systems
