K9 East Orthopaedic and Surgical Specialties is a 33-bed acute inpatient unit delivering care across a wide range of surgical specialties, including Orthopaedics, Plastics & Reconstructive Surgery, ENT, Oral Maxillofacial Surgery, Urology, and Ophthalmology. K9 East plays a vital role as Tasmania's Statewide Burns Unit, offering complex and critical care to patients across Tasmania. The unit prides itself on its dynamic and multidisciplinary team culture — where collaboration, innovation, and patient-centred care drive everything we do. K9 East is an integral part of the broader Surgical and Perioperative Services at the Royal Hobart Hospital — Tasmania's largest tertiary referral hospital. Working alongside other surgical inpatient units, operating theatres, recovery, and perioperative services, K9 East contributes to a seamless, high-quality continuum of care for surgical patients across the hospital.
The Role:
The Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) on K9E plays a pivotal role in overseeing not only the ward but also K3 East - the Department of Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine, and works in collaboration with the Burns Nurse Practitioner to effectively staff the Burns Clinic. The K9E NUM provides leadership and clinical governance over a complex and integral service, whilst also offering clinical expertise and support.
You will need:
* Demonstrated advanced knowledge, skills, and experience in Orthopaedic and Surgical Specialties.
* Demonstrate capability to promote a shared vision and purpose and positively influence others (internally and externally) to ensure optimal client outcomes and build a culture of success, commitment, and active contribution by all staff within the practice area.
* Demonstrate capability to be adaptable and respond and adjust easily to change. They are proactive and self-directed and will seize opportunities and act upon them, ensuring improved outcomes for the practice area.

Details of appointment:
Permanent, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $130,203 to $136,295 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
* Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
* Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type
