About Us Masala Indian Cuisine Aitkenvale is a well-established Indian restaurant located in Aitkenvale, Queensland.
We specialise in authentic Indian cuisine, offering a wide range of traditional curries, tandoori dishes, biryanis, and freshly prepared breads. Our focus is on delivering consistent quality, rich flavours, and a welcoming dining experience. Due to ongoing growth and strong customer demand, we are seeking a skilled Chef to join our kitchen team.
Location: 186 Nathan St, Aitkenvale QLD 4814 Position: Chef – Full-Time Salary: $90,000 – $100,000 + Superannuation
About the Role The Chef will be responsible for preparing and cooking a wide range of Indian dishes while maintaining high standards of quality, presentation, and consistency. This is a hands-on role requiring strong knowledge of Indian cooking techniques and the ability to manage kitchen operations during busy service periods.
Key Responsibilities 1. Prepare and cook authentic Indian dishes including curries, tandoori items, biryanis, and breads. 2. Ensure consistency in flavour, portion size, and presentation of all menu items.
3. Plan and develop menu items and seasonal specials where required. 4. Operate and manage tandoor ovens and specialised Indian cooking equipment safely and efficiently. 5. Monitor ingredient quality, freshness, and proper storage procedures.
6. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of all kitchen areas. 7. Manage stock control, ordering, and inventory rotation. 8. Supervise and guide kitchen staff to maintain service efficiency and food standards.
9. Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety regulations. 10. Coordinate kitchen workflow during peak service times. Skills & Experience
1. Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification. 2. At least one-two years of proven experience working as a Chef in an Indian cuisine restaurant. 3. Strong knowledge of Indian spices, cooking techniques, and traditional preparation methods.
4. Ability to manage a high-volume kitchen environment. 5. Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills. 6. Commitment to food safety, hygiene, and quality control.
