**About the branch**
The ACIC Intelligence Operations Operating Model is founded around 4 core capability pillars—coercive examinations, technical intelligence capability, human intelligence capability and data analytics capability. These core capabilities are interconnected and inform one another to derive maximum strategic insights to inform disruption strategies and opportunities. South Operations staff and state-based specialist units work collaboratively with key external partners to affect disruption activities, collect criminal intelligence for dissemination to our partners and ensure the flow of critical information to support the development of strategic intelligence.
**About the role**
The Assistant Director Operations works in support of the Director Operations, within multi-disciplinary teams where they have direct access to investigators, intelligence analysts, surveillance operatives, legal officers, support staff and members of external partner agencies. Additionally, Operations utilise investigative techniques including the ACIC's coercive and legislative powers, recruitment and management of human sources and other covert capabilities to ensure the ACIC is effective in disrupting serious and organised crime.
This position will be responsible for the preparation and oversight of operational performance reporting and governance within Operations Victoria. This includes oversight of the state's performance against the Intelligence Operations Business Plan, assurance reviews of operational reporting, Performance Management Reporting (PMR) and the oversight and governance of ACIC's covert systems and processes.
The Assistant Director Operations will support the Director Operations in managing operational relationships with relevant partners / key strategic stakeholders, lead strategic planning and deliver outcomes as they relate to managing organisational wellbeing and cultural competency, budget, workforce, learning and development, infrastructure, security and integrity. The position will monitor operational strategies to ensure effort is aligned, remains consistent with national priorities and is highly responsive to new and emerging criminal activity.
This position will assist with leading and coordinating the activities of support teams, including the business support team, surveillance and technical units. As required the position will support the Director Operations in coordinating and managing investigative and intelligence efforts of the operational teams.
- Demonstrates high-level understanding of serious and organised crime threats to Australian interests, with extensive experience leading and conducting complex and sensitive investigations and operations.
- Maintains sound judgement to problem solve during complex operations in order to deliver operational outcomes.
- Provides leadership, people management and governance skills with a demonstrated ability to lead, supervise, motivate and develop teams and individuals within a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Builds and maintains relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including the ability to liaise, collaborate and negotiate to achieve desired outcomes.
**Essential requirements**
- A current member of; or have served with a State, Federal or International law enforcement agency to be eligible to obtain AFP special membership including Use of Force status.
