Maternal Early Childhood Health Program Coordinator Role
The Maternal Early Childhood Health Program Coordinator plays a vital role in delivering culturally responsive health services to pregnant women, mothers, and children.
This position requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of Aboriginal culture. The successful candidate will have previous experience working in Aboriginal Health Services or similar settings.
* Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement the Maternal Early Childhood Health Program, ensuring an integrated approach to primary healthcare.
* Maintain confidentiality and work collaboratively with the Maternal Early Childhood Health Program Team.
* Recognize and respect Aboriginal values, customs, language, and traditional practices.
* Design and deliver culturally appropriate and accessible health services for women and children.
* Contribute to policy and procedure development on child and maternal health home visits.
* Ensure strict confidentiality is maintained at all times.
* Update patient file notes and medical histories accurately.
* Take a leadership role within the Health Centre, supporting management to ensure a culturally safe environment.
* Consult and manage clients as required, providing expert advice and guidance.
* Participate in case management and follow-up activities, either independently or with other healthcare providers.
* Provide sexual health and family planning counseling as needed.
* Prepare comprehensive financial, performance, and compliance reports for executives and external funding bodies.
* Establish and maintain detailed patient records.
* Monitor the effectiveness of healthcare services and programs, ensuring organizational goals are met and regulatory standards are upheld.
* Manage staff and resources effectively.
* Collaborate with Child and Maternal Health RNs to promote the delivery of high-quality services in and around Tennant Creek.
* Provide Maternal Early Childhood Health services both in the program center and in the community.
* Pursue ongoing development of the Maternal Early Childhood Health Program to enhance culturally appropriate and accessible health services.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will require:
* A strong understanding of Aboriginal culture and its application in healthcare settings.
* Previous experience working in Aboriginal Health Services or similar settings.
* Excellent leadership and communication skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
