Job details
Client is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to be deployed within the Engineering Services team. The contractor will perform a number of key functions which include:
* Providing critical support to the OpenShift installation.
* Maintain and develop the software delivery pipeline, including improvements to automated testing, software builds, software deployments, and application observability.
* Maintaining, administering and developing applications relating to application access control.
* Supporting projects and business as usual activities, as required, in a software engineering capacity.
Key duties and responsibilities
* Participating in small, multi‐disciplinary software development teams to develop, enhance, and maintain software solutions aligned to evolving client's business needs.
* Design, deliver, and support Azure‐based cloud and hybrid platforms (including Azure and/or Red Hat OpenShift) within enterprise and government environments.
* Provide ongoing production support to existing systems, including high‐level problem resolution.
* Apply DevOps and platform engineering practices to support both project delivery and business‐as‐usual operations.
* Providing advice using extensive software engineering knowledge and skills to support project delivery and operational outcomes.
* Critique and review software solution designs with a focus on usability, testability, maintainability, resilience, security, and performance.
* Enhance existing systems in response to production issues, technical debt repayments, and changing business requirements.
* Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, Red Hat OpenShift, Terraform, and similar technologies to enable secure, automated, and repeatable delivery.
* Implement infrastructure as Code (IaC), preferably using Terraform, to ensure consistent, reliable and scalable environments.
* Developing and maintain comprehensive documentation, including design artefacts, operational procedures, and support documentation.
* Plan and perform testing activities to demonstrate built solutions and support successful system implementations.
* Where appropriate, coach and mentor software engineers to transfer skills, knowledge and best practices.
* Liaise with third‐party vendors and service providers to support externally developed software systems and software services.
* Coordinate technical resources and working with project managers to drive the delivery of technical solutions and agreed outcomes.
* Identify and implement opportunities to improve reliability, maintainability, and operational efficiency across platforms and services.
* Collaborate with architects, security teams, and internal and external service providers to deliver integrated and compliant solutions.
* Contribute to the development and maintenance of operational standards and technical artefacts.
* Operate effectively within secure, regulated government environments, complying with relevant policies, standards, and governance frameworks.
* Engage effectively with both technical and non‐technical stakeholders to communicate solutions, risks and delivery progress.
* Support security‐by‐design, cloud governance, and compliance obligations across all solutions.
