About the role
The Retail Manager — Agricultural Merchandise will be responsible for the day‐to‐day and strategic management of our client's merchandise division. The role includes sales, budgeting, inventory control, supplier relationships, customer service, staff supervision, store presentation, product range development, safety compliance and close integration with the agronomy and operations teams.
Main Responsibilities
* Managing our client's merchandise offer across crop protection, fertiliser, seed, packaging, irrigation, general merchandise, fuel and aerial spraying services
* Developing annual merchandise sales and inventory budgets
* Achieving agreed sales and inventory budget targets
* Managing seasonal stock planning, forecasting and inventory control
* Ensuring adequate seasonal product availability and minimising stock carry‐over
* Maximising sales through key customer accounts and internal team collaboration
* Determining landed product price points, including freight and commercial terms
* Managing sales rebates and stock lines
* Coordinating freight arrangements and ensuring freight costs are recovered where appropriate
Requirements
Education / Experience / Skills
* Proven sales experience
* Warehouse, stock and inventory management experience
* Relevant tertiary qualification in agriculture, agribusiness, horticulture, business, supply chain, logistics, rural merchandise management or a related discipline
* Strong customer service capability
* Commercial understanding of pricing, margins, freight, rebates and inventory control
