STORE MANAGER - DYMOCKS CHATSWOOD role at Dymocks Books

As a Store Manager you will lead a knowledgeable and passionate team to provide the highest level of customer service. You will have a love of books, gifts and stationery, and be passionate about achieving sales targets by helping customers find the right items. You will continuously learn, including about new releases, gifts or stationery.
You will promote a broad range of products from the extensive assortment of books, gifts and stationery in Australia and offer the Booklover Program to every customer. You will be involved in keeping the store stocked, operating the registers, and assisting in all duties involved in running a busy retail store.
Reporting to the Regional General Manager, this role will involve leading, coaching and managing a small team to achieve business goals.
Employment type Full-time, 5 days per week, with requirements to work on Saturdays and occasionally Sundays when required.
Responsibilities
* Achieve store sales budgets
* Achieve Booklover sign up targets
* Achieve add-on sales targets
* Build a culture of sales performance within the store and drive this through the team
* Establish and achieve profitability and sales goals identified in the annual budget
* Identify new sales opportunities
* Provide ongoing coaching and support to employees on how to best achieve sales
* Create effective and cost-efficient rostering for a small team of permanent and casual team members
* Manage inventory, including stock ordering, returns, and close management of aged stock to balance sales, service, and financial constraints
* Lead the team by demonstrating and embodying highly developed sales skills and leadership behaviours
* Recruitment and onboarding of new store employees
* Update employees regularly on new product knowledge, identifying and acting upon any individual training needs
* Conduct regular store management meetings to provide direction, receive feedback, and keep the team well informed
* Provide training and development opportunities to support achievement of objectives and store succession planning
* Ensure contingency plans are in place to manage unplanned interruptions to business
* Monitor and maintain company-mandated processes and procedures throughout the store
* Maximise the outcomes of national marketing programs, develop and implement local store marketing and events within style and budget
* Monitor and manage store compliance activities, audit and operational expenses
* Report to the business on achievements and future initiatives
* Establish and maintain consistent service and merchandising standards throughout the store
Qualifications and Experience
* Store management experience, ideally in books, stationery, and/or gifting
* Experience achieving personal KPIs and driving store team KPIs (budget, conversion, ATV, UPT, etc.)
* Demonstrated knowledge of visual merchandising techniques
* Passion for and knowledge of our products; ability to adapt as the range grows
* Ability to provide superior levels of service to every customer and inspire the team to do the same
* Accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to work quickly
* Self-motivated and team-oriented
* Strong communication and leadership skills
* Proficiency with retail systems; Advance Retail highly desirable
* Proficiency with Kronos Workforce Ready highly desirable
* Ability to comfortably lift 20 kg
