About the role
Wide Bay Women's Health Centre Inc. is seeking a part-time Counsellor to join their team in Hervey Bay, Queensland. This role involves a mix of outreach service delivery in Maryborough and surrounds and centre-based counselling in Hervey Bay, providing flexible, client-centred support to women within these communities.

Responsibilities
· Deliver high-quality counselling services to clients in both outreach and centre- based settings
· Provide culturally safe, trauma-informed, and strengths-based support
· Undertake client assessment for the purpose of internal and external referrals
· Advocate on behalf of clients, where required
· Maintain accurate client records and case notes in line with organisational and funding requirements
· Participate in Health Promotion Activities when requested
· Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to support client outcomes including establishing and strengthening links with other service providers to enhance continuum of care for clients and to facilitate a multidisciplinary approach to service delivery
· Support the service's commitment to quality improvement practices
· Work within a team environment which supports open, accountable, and transparent processes and a multidisciplinary approach to service delivery
Selection Criteria
1. Tertiary qualification in Counselling, Social Work, Psychology, Behavioural/Social Sciences, or related human services discipline.
2. Membership with a relevant professional body which includes regular external with an approved supervisor.
3. Demonstrated experience in providing counselling and therapeutic support to women who are at risk of, and/or recovering from, experiences of gender-based violence. Experience in the delivery of trauma-informed counselling and case management to support recovery, safety, and overall wellbeing.
4. Experience working autonomously in outreach environments, including travel between service locations .
5. Ability to work within a feminist framework that recognises and responds to the gendered impacts of violence against women.
6. Demonstrated ability to research and provide timely, relevant information and referrals to external services that support client safety, wellbeing, and recovery.
7. Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to engage effectively with management, team members and women from diverse backgrounds.
8. Requirement to hold a current Working with Children Blue Card prior to commencement of employment and a current driver's licence.
