The City and Environment Directorate (CED) is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to join our People and Capability Branch as Assistant Director, Workforce Capability. About Us CED is a newly established directorate with a bold purpose: to deliver smarter, more connected services that shape Canberra’s future. We bring together planning, transport, environmental stewardship, and city services to create a more inclusive, resilient, and customer-focused city. The Role As Assistant Director, Workforce Capability, you’ll lead the design and delivery of development initiatives that build skills, enhance performance, and support career pathways across the Directorate. You’ll manage the Learning Management System (LMS), oversee the Performance Framework, and coordinate employment programs including graduate and intern pathways. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement learning and development programs aligned with CED’s Strategic Plan. Manage and optimise the LMS. Deliver accredited and non-accredited training tailored to business needs. Lead implementation of the ACTPS Performance Framework. Coordinate competency-based training and induction programs. Manage graduate and intern programs and support studies assistance initiatives. Collaborate with stakeholders across CED and ACT Government to deliver high-quality workforce capability services. Supervise and support team members to achieve strategic outcomes. What We’re Looking For Proven experience in organisational development, performance frameworks, and LMS management. Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and lead teams effectively. Experience in designing learning programs using tools like Articulate 360. Knowledge of training principles, workforce capability building, and data reporting (e.g. Power BI). Why Join Us?
