We are a small, established public accounting practice in Rockingham with a team of 6 staff, delivering accounting, taxation and advisory services to small businesses, individuals and investors. As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Operations Manager with solid accounting experience to help strengthen the internal running of the practice and support the next stage of our development.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives on organisation, continuous improvement, and supporting a team to do their best work.
The opportunity
As Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the smooth and effective day-to-day operation of the practice. You will work closely with leadership to improve efficiency, coordinate internal workflows, support staff, and help create the structure needed for a high-performing and client-focused business.
In a small practice, this role is varied and meaningful. You will have the opportunity to contribute across systems, people, process improvement and practice administration, while helping shape how the firm grows into the future.
Key responsibilities
• Manage the day-to-day operations of the practice
• Review and improve systems, workflows and internal processes
• Support team coordination, job flow, capacity planning and review processes
• Assist with onboarding, staff support and people processes
• Oversee practice administration and office operations
• Help implement process improvements and operational efficiencies
• Support leadership with reporting, planning and business improvement projects
• Maintain internal standards, procedures and accountability across the team
• Contribute to a positive, professional and collaborative workplace culture
• Review accounting and taxation work prepared by team members and provide guidance to support accuracy, quality and compliance
About you
You are a capable and organised operations professional who enjoys creating order, improving efficiency and helping teams succeed. You are practical, proactive and confident taking ownership of systems and processes.
• Experience in operations management, practice management, office management or business support leadership
• Relevant accounting qualifications are required
• Solid accounting experience is required, ideally within a public practice environment
• Demonstrated ability to review accounting work and maintain strong quality standards
• Strong administrative and organisational capability
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• A high level of initiative and problem-solving ability
• Strong attention to detail and follow-through
• The ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a small business environment
• Experience in public accounting, professional services, or a similar setting will be highly regarded
• Confidence with practice management and cloud-based business systems
