**About the Department**
Austin Health Pathology is a dynamic and growing department within Austin Health, dedicated to delivering high-quality diagnostic services across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria. We proudly support Austin Health, the Mercy Hospital for Women, and a wide network of GPs and specialists.
We are currently expanding into the Hume and Loddon Mallee regions, strengthening our presence and accessibility in regional communities through a network of laboratories, collection centers and point-of-care services.
**About the role**
A regular day will see you:
- Position is predominantly evening shift, with the availability to participate in a 24/7 roster as required, including participation in weekday, weeknight, overnight, weekend and public holiday rosters
- Prepare laboratory media and maintain and perform the various stains used within the laboratory
- General laboratory tasks such as housekeeping, maintenance, clerical activities, data entry, and specimen transport duties.
- Process all specimen types both on automated system (Kiestra, Urine analyser, Blood culture or other) and manually.
**About you**
To be successful you'll bring with you:
- Certificate or Associate Diploma in Applied Science (Medical Laboratory), a Certificate, Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Laboratory Technology or Laboratory Operations, or equivalent.
- Relevant experience and/or understanding of the work performed in a Microbiology Pathology laboratory.
- Ability to prioritise and cope with stressful and emergency situations.
- Ability to work independently, with mínimal supervision.
