The Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) is Australia's national criminal intelligence agency. We advise senior decision makers on serious organised crime impacting Australia. The ACIC is at the forefront of tackling serious and organised crime targeting Australia, both within our borders and offshore. As a small agency that makes a real impact on serious and organised crime, we need talented and dedicated people who are intelligent, highly capable, collaborative and are seeking to make a difference to the lives of all Australians.

**About the branch**
The ACIC Intelligence Operations Operating Model is founded around 4 core capability pillars—coercive examinations, technical intelligence capability, human intelligence capability and data analytics capability. These core capabilities are interconnected and inform one another to derive maximum strategic insights to inform disruption strategies and opportunities.

The Operational Strategy Branch develops strategies and programs of work that deliver actionable criminal intelligence to our partners. We do this by leveraging off our national and international footprint to collect intelligence and coordinate operational activity in order to significantly impact high level domestic and foreign organised crime groups. It also develops opportunities to identify new and emerging threats posed by serious organised crime and ways to mitigate these threats.

**About the role**

- Has a talent for identifying, embracing and driving the adoption of innovative methods and practice, and a strong record of accomplishment in delivering innovative and transformative change within an intelligence or law enforcement environment.

- Has outstanding communication and negotiation skills, shows acute political awareness and an understanding of the machinery of Government, and how the ACIC operates within the Portfolio.
- Exemplary experience in public administration including strategic planning, particularly in relation to people, technology, security and budget.

**Essential qualifications**
- If required, an ability to obtain Australian Federal Police special membership, including the ability to use force, by virtue of being a current or former sworn member of a state, federal or international law enforcement agency (within the past 5 years).
- Successfully complete an operational medical assessment prior to employment.
- As an employee in a designated high-risk role, complete an annual psychological assessment.

**Eligibility**
- Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the APS, unless the agency head has agreed otherwise, in writing. For further information, contact the Recruitment Team.
- The Australian community expects ACIC employees to maintain the highest levels of security and integrity. Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain, or continue to hold, the required security clearance for this role. All ACIC employees are required to hold a minimum Negative Vetting 1 security clearance, unless otherwise specified.
- To be eligible to work at the ACIC, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Being fully vaccinated ensures the health and safety of all employees, and the Australian community. Satisfactory proof of vaccination status will be required before you are able to commence employment with the ACIC.
