As a Clinical Midwifery Consultant, you will provide expert guidance in complex maternity care, lead the development of coordinated care pathways, and champion innovative clinical practices. You'll support and empower midwives and multidisciplinary teams through specialised education, contemporary clinical advice, and the delivery of complex care plans. Are You the Right Fit?

You'll thrive in this role if you are an experienced and highly skilled midwife who brings both clinical excellence and compassionate leadership to complex maternity care. You'll be someone with strong foundations—holding current AHPRA registration, postgraduate midwifery qualifications, significant experience in the specialty, and confidence navigating the demands of community based work (including a current NSW driver's licence).You're the right fit if you excel in supporting women with complex psychosocial needs or high risk pregnancies, and if you can approach these situations with sensitivity, advanced clinical judgement, and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes. You will bring a collaborative mindset, strong understanding of midwifery group practice models of care, leading evidence based practice while mentoring and supporting colleagues across the multidisciplinary team.You enjoy working in dynamic environments, where navigating perinatal support systems, coordinating care, and advocating for women and families is central to what you do. Your professional toolkit includes demonstrated capability in quality improvement, research participation, and the development of innovative care approaches. Confident in your communication, education, and clinical leadership skills, you are also comfortable using digital tools and clinical databases to support safe, coordinated care.If you're passionate about providing exceptional care to women with complex needs—and you're ready to contribute your expertise to shaping high quality, compassionate maternity services—then this could be the perfect next step in your midwifery career.

Selection Criteria

To help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below.

1. Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Midwife with at least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least 3 years fulltime equivalent experience in the specialty field of maternity care. Approved postgraduate midwifery qualifications relevant to the specialty field of Midwifery, or other such qualifications or experience deemed appropriate.
2. Demonstrated skills in working with women experiencing severe and complex psychosocial vulnerabilities and women with pregnancies requiring complex care planning in the perinatal period.
3. Demonstrated experience in education, clinical leadership, mentoring and supervision.
4. Demonstrated knowledge of support services available to women in the perinatal period, and the ability to navigate these support systems and negotiate with stakeholders.
5. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P. Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
