The Role
The Satellite Communications System Program Office (SATCOM SPO) is seeking an APS 6 Contract Manager (CM) with Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) experience to join their sustainment team. The ideal candidate would be accountable to perform and achieve complex contract management and logistics inventory management work within an integrated workforce. They are required to have knowledge of legislative frameworks, government decision-making, Defence’s mission, and policy requirements as well as have a sound working understand of the Defence Logistics framework and system.
The role includes a considerable level of stakeholder engagement, liaising with stakeholders in relation to complex issues. They will be required to identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholders’ needs and expectations to achieve SATCOM SPO and wider Defence outcomes. They will be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development.
About our Team
Space Systems Branch acquires and sustains SATCOM systems, and is a trusted advisor of SATCOM systems for the Australian Defence Organisation. The team comprises professionals from various disciplines including project management, engineering, commercial, and logistics. This multi-disciplinary team is composed of highly skilled and motivated Australian Public Service, Australian Defence Force and contracted personnel. The team works from Brindabella Park offices in Canberra and maintains close collaboration with other parts of Defence and other Government Agencies.

The ideal candidates will have experience in similar roles, with knowledge of contract management, logistics, finance, asset and contract management, be able to demonstrate the ability to work independently and as a contributing member of a team. Key attributes:
* Demonstrated experience & knowledge of logistics methodologies, systems and procedures;
* Demonstrated experience or understanding of contract management, including compliance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures;
* Demonstrated experience in working within a team in a complex environment;
* Excellent communication and customer engagement skills with ability to negotiate and build relationships with stakeholders; and
* Excellent organisational skills, self-drive and initiative with the ability to influence others to achieve results and business objectives.
As part of this role you will be responsible for the following activities:
* Manage Contract Management and Logistics Activities including Receipts, Issues, Procurements, Stocktaking and Disposals;
* Contribute to Engineering Change Proposals, including advising on ILS Factors and managing the execution of Updates to Supply Support Elements eg Codification and Cataloguing.
* Contribute to Contract Performance Reviews and to the review of Contractor Deliverables.
