Our Business Partner is looking for an experienced IMS System Programmer /DBA. The successful candidate will be joining a MF Core Systems team, the role provides senior technical consultation on management disciplines supporting the provision, availability and performance of IMS databases within IMS subsystems. This is initially a 6-month contract, with the possibility of extending further.
The candidate must have an extensive knowledge of IMS database usage, including design and tuning of FullFunction & FastPath databases backup and recovery processes and system architecture and design. This includes the ability to provide expert technical problem diagnosis and resolution along with strong mentoring skills to support and direct more junior team members.
The role requires constant liaison with other technical support areas including PSSC (Production Services Support Centre) in order to provide effective service to customers. There is a further requirement to provide 24X7 on call support on a rostered basis in order to support applications using IMS databases.

Essential Skills:
* High level of skill in IMS database administration including availability, capacity planning, performance tuning, recovery, security and data integrity.
* Expert knowledge of FullFunction & FastPath components of IMS.
* A solid understanding of IBMs z/OS operating system.
* Experience with IBM & BMC IMS database utilities.
* Ability to work collaboratively across organisational boundaries and build good working relationships with customers, peers, staff, vendors.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Proven Customer Focus and advocate of the business needs.
* Strong oral & written communication skills, enabling easy interaction at many levels within organisation.
* Understanding of the business & proven ability to translate business requirements into high-quality cost-effective solutions.
* Proven record in implementing and supporting technology services and driving change to effect substantial business value improvements.
* Strong organisational and commercial acumen, pragmatic, business approach to technological challenges.
Desirable Skills:
* Working knowledge of end-to-end technology services across the client's environment including understanding of banking applications, other platforms, network connectivity, communications protocols and data storage technologies.
* Exposure to project management disciplines and methodology.
* Relevant Tertiary Qualifications.
