Competitive remuneration package up to $161,711 p.a. (package includes salary between $129,464 - $142,665 p.a., plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading)

About the Opportunity
Join the State Library of NSW in a pivotal role shaping the future of our collections. You'll provide expert advice on collection management strategies, develop and review policies aligned with our Collection Development Policy, and lead initiatives that enhance access to our world-class collections. This is a unique opportunity to influence legislation, champion digital collecting, and collaborate with industry leaders to ensure our collections meet the evolving needs of readers and researchers.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and review collection management strategies and policies.
Advocate for the Library's role in legislation and statutory frameworks.
Lead projects to improve collection access, including digitisation initiatives.
Analyse collection data and prepare reports, briefings, and presentations.
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners on industry-wide projects.
Ideal Candidate
You are a passionate and experienced professional with a strong background in collection development and management principles in a library or similar cultural context.
Strong awareness and understanding of international standards and best practice for collecting in a cultural institution, including curation and standards for the management of born-digital and digitised material.
Substantial experience in the use of information technology and/or collection management systems and databases to select and acquire collection material and the capacity to work effectively with online tools, applications and a sound understanding of file formats.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to represent the Library in external forums and collaborative projects.
A strategic mindset and commitment to continuous improvement in collection practices, aligned with the Library's vision.
Demonstrated leadership in project delivery and operational planning, with a collaborative approach to achieving outcomes.
