Role Purpose

The purpose of this role is to provide significant technical expertise in architecture planning and design of the concerned tower (platform, database, middleware, backup, etc.) as well as managing its day‑to‑day operations.


Responsibilities

* Provide adequate support in architecture planning, migration & installation for new projects within the tower (platform, database, middleware, backup).
o Lead the structural/architectural design of a platform/middleware/database/backup solution according to system requirements to ensure a highly scalable and extensible architecture.
o Conduct technology capacity planning by reviewing current and future requirements.
o Utilize and leverage new features of all underlying technologies to ensure smooth functioning of installed databases and applications/platforms.
o Strategise & implement disaster recovery plans and create backup and recovery strategies.
* Manage the day‑to‑day operations of the tower.
o Troubleshoot issues, conduct root‑cause analysis and develop fixes to prevent recurrence.
o Plan and manage upgrades, migration, maintenance, backup, installation and configuration functions for the tower.
o Review technical performance, fine‑tune results and reduce performance challenges.
o Develop shift roster to ensure uninterrupted operations.
o Create & update SOPs, Data Responsibility Matrices, operations manuals, daily test plans, data architecture guidance, etc.
o Provide weekly status reports to client leadership and internal stakeholders on database activities, progress, updates and next steps.
o Leverage technology to develop Service Improvement Plans through automation and other initiatives for higher efficiency and effectiveness.


Team Management

* Resourcing
o Forecast talent requirements as per current and future business needs.
o Hire adequate and right resources for the team.
o Train direct reportees to make recruitment and selection decisions.
* Talent Management
o Ensure 100% compliance to Wipro's standards of adequate onboarding and training for team members.
o Build an internal talent pool of HiPos and ensure their career progression.
o Promote diversity in leadership positions.
* Performance Management
o Set goals for direct reportees, conduct timely performance reviews and appraisals, and give constructive feedback.
o Ensure that organizational programs like Performance Nxt are well understood and that the team utilizes the opportunities presented.
* Employee Satisfaction and Engagement
o Lead and drive engagement initiatives for the team.
o Track team satisfaction scores and identify initiatives to build engagement.
o Proactively challenge the team with larger, enriching projects and initiatives.
o Exercise employee recognition and appreciation.


Deliverables

Performance parameters, SLA adherence, knowledge management, CSAT/customer experience, risk issue identification and mitigation plans, timely delivery of new projects, avoidance of unauthorised changes, and no formal escalations.
