Role Overview
The Microsoft Dynamics 365 Functional Consultant will provide specialist functional analysis, configuration, and business process advisory services to support the successful delivery of medium to large-scale Microsoft Dynamics 365 implementations.
The role focuses on translating business needs into high-quality functional solutions, working closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, and project delivery partners within an Agile Scrum environment. The consultant will contribute across the full delivery lifecycle, from discovery and requirements definition through configuration, testing, and user acceptance.
Key Responsibilities
Functional Analysis & Requirements Management
* Provide end-to-end functional analysis services, including requirements elicitation, analysis, validation, and traceability.
* Capture and document business requirements using user stories, personas, process maps, wireframes, and screen mock-ups.
* Translate business requirements into clear functional designs aligned with Microsoft Dynamics 365 platform capabilities and constraints.
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Configuration
* Configure and support Microsoft Dynamics 365 solutions, including:
o Customer Service
o Power Pages
o Forms, Business Process Flows, and Business Rules
* Support functional design decisions to ensure optimal use of out-of-the-box functionality and minimal customisation where possible.
* Collaborate with technical teams to support integrations and enhancements.
Agile Delivery & Scrum Participation
* Work effectively within Agile Scrum delivery frameworks.
* Actively contribute to:
o Sprint planning
o Backlog grooming and prioritisation
o Effort estimation and refinement activities
* Support iterative delivery, continuous improvement, and incremental value realisation.
Business Process Re-engineering
* Analyse existing (as-is) business processes and design optimised (to-be) processes.
* Lead and contribute to business process re-engineering activities to drive innovation, efficiency, and improved customer outcomes.
* Identify opportunities to improve service delivery using Dynamics 365 capabilities.
Stakeholder Engagement & Workshops
* Work directly with end-users, business representatives, and technical teams to achieve agreed outcomes.
* Plan and facilitate workshops, showcases, and design sessions, including sessions with senior stakeholders.
* Present functional designs, prototypes, and solution options in a clear, engaging manner.
Testing & User Acceptance
* Support and coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities.
* Assist business users during testing, defect triage, and validation of functional outcomes.
* Ensure solutions meet agreed business requirements prior to production release.
Documentation & Delivery Artefacts
* Produce and maintain high-quality project documentation, including:
o Business requirements documentation
o Functional design specifications
o User stories and acceptance criteria
o Process maps and configuration documentation
* Ensure documentation is clear, accurate, and fit for purpose across delivery and operational phases.
Mandatory Experience & Skills
* 5+ years experience providing functional analysis services
* 3+ years experience delivering medium to large-scale Microsoft Dynamics 365 implementations, with strong understanding of platform capabilities and limitations
* 2+ years experience working in Agile Scrum environments, including planning, backlog grooming, and estimation
* Demonstrated hands‐on experience configuring:
o Dynamics 365 Customer Service
o Power Pages
o Forms, Business Process Flows, and Business Rules
Advanced Capability Requirements
* Advanced skills in requirements documentation and functional design, including user stories, wireframes, and screen mock-ups
* Proven experience in business process re‐engineering and driving innovative customer outcomes
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including:
o Working directly with business and technical teams
o Leading workshops and showcases with senior stakeholders
Desirable Experience
* Experience working with Microsoft Azure environments
* Experience using Microsoft DevOps (Azure DevOps)
* Experience delivering solutions within the health sector
