We are seeking a skilled and experienced Accountant/Bookkeeper with comprehensive knowledge of QuickBooks, Xero, and MYOB to manage end-to-end bookkeeping and financial reporting processes. The ideal candidate should have a robust understanding of Australian accounting standards, general ledger (GL) reviews, fixed asset accounting, and provisions for expenses and doubtful debts. Additionally, they should be proficient in handling balance sheet items and ensuring accuracy in financial records.

Responsibilities:

End-to-End Bookkeeping:

- Handle day-to-day financial transactions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Reconcile bank statements, credit card transactions, and supplier statements.
- Ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded and classified according to Australian accounting standards.

General Ledger (GL) Review:

- Conduct regular reviews of the general ledger accounts to ensure all transactions are properly allocated.
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies or errors in the general ledger.

Fixed Asset Accounting:

- Manage the fixed asset register, ensuring all acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation are accurately recorded.
- Perform periodic reviews of asset depreciation and ensure compliance with company policy and accounting standards.

Provision of Expenses and Doubtful Debts:

- Calculate and record provisions for future expenses and potential doubtful debts.
- Regularly assess the adequacy of provisions and make necessary adjustments based on current financial performance and risk assessments.

Handling Loss of Goods:

- Record and manage loss of goods in the accounts, ensuring proper documentation and reconciliation.
- Collaborate with internal teams to investigate and minimize financial losses.

Balance Sheet Reconciliation:

- Prepare and review monthly/quarterly/yearly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Ensure all balance sheet items (such as receivables, payables, provisions, prepayments, and accruals) are accurately accounted for and properly classified.

Compliance and Reporting:

- Prepare and submit Business Activity Statements (BAS) and ensure compliance with Australian Taxation Office (ATO) regulations.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, profit & loss reports, and management reports.

Accounting Software Proficiency:

- Use QuickBooks, Xero, and MYOB to maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Leverage software tools for reporting, budgeting, and analysis.
- Stay updated with the latest features and updates in accounting software to improve process efficiency.

Requirements:

- Experience : Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Australian accounting or bookkeeping roles.
- Software Proficiency : Strong hands-on experience with QuickBooks, Xero, and MYOB.

Technical Skills:

- Strong understanding of Australian accounting principles and taxation laws.
- Proficient in GL accounting, provisions accounting, balance sheet reconciliation, and fixed asset management.
- Experience in BAS preparation and compliance with the Australian Taxation Office.

- Attention to Detail : Ability to work with high accuracy, ensuring the integrity of financial records.
- Communication Skills : Excellent verbal and written communication skills to work effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Problem Solving : Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve accounting discrepancies.
- Organizational Skills : Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously to meet deadlines.

Experience: 3 - 10 Years

Qualification:

Educational Background : Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.

- Experience with Australian payroll processing.
- Experience with inventory accounting and cost of goods sold.
- Certification in QuickBooks, Xero, or MYOB is a plus.
