About the Opportunity
We are seeking a Category Specialist to join our team on a permanent basis.
As a Category Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting logistics procurement activity across our business units including road and rail transport, shipping, marine services, and storage services.
You will report to the Category Manager Operations and work in close partnership with our businesses to deliver value through strong commercial outcomes aligned with our business values and objectives.
Key Responsibilities
* Understanding end-to-end logistics Category and market demands and meeting customer requirements.
* Developing partnering relationships with internal customers.
* Developing, prioritising and executing strategy development based on Category and customer demands, sourcing, category and Supplier management plans to support business continuity.
* Providing advice and guidance to stakeholders in drafting high risk, complex scopes of work with tailored commercial outcomes.
* Leading concurrent sourcing processes and contract formation activities such as Tender, commercial assessment and negotiations, risk apportionment/contract drafting etc.
* Leading and engaging with internal customers to deliver effective Supplier management aligned with our values.
* Ensuring category management activities comply with our values, internal and external standards, licences and regulations.
Requirements
* Relevant qualification in related discipline e.g. Business, Analytics, Law or equivalent Membership of relevant professional bodies.
* 8+ years' experience as a category specialist (preferably within an industrial environment), with the ability to independently manage complex sourcing activities, analyse commercial and operational data to drive value, negotiate with suppliers, and implement category strategies.
* Strong understanding of transport regulatory compliance including transport and logistics requirements such as Incoterms, customs procedures, and dangerous goods regulations.
* Exposure to other categories such as Materials & Goods, Equipment, Facilities Management, or Corporate procurement will be highly regarded.
