About The Role
This position is responsible for assessing plumbing and drainage applications, inspecting installed works, and investigating related complaints to ensure compliance with permit conditions and legislative requirements. The role works under the direction of the Senior Plumbing Inspectors and the guidance of the Functional Lead – Hydraulics and Building Assessment.
You will work within a collaborative team that includes Plumbing Inspectors, Senior Plumbing Inspectors, Functional Lead, Coordinator Hydraulics, and the Team Manager – Planning Assessment. The role also engages with broader multidisciplinary groups encompassing infrastructure, social planning, heritage, urban design, and open space planning to support informed land use decisions.
Strong communication and negotiation skills are critical, as the position involves liaising with a diverse range of stakeholders to achieve balanced and sustainable land use outcomes for the City.
About You
Our ideal applicant will be able to provide sound technical advice to licensees, builders, the development industry, Council departments, the public, and other stakeholders on plumbing and drainage matters.
Knowledge of the Plumbing and Drainage Act and Regulations, and related legislation—including the Local Government Act, Building Act, Environmental Protection Act, Water Act, Water Supply (Safety and Reliability) Act, Workplace Health and Safety Act and relevant parts of the Queensland Development Code—is required.
